DAVIDSON SHIELD
Manjimup Range - 26 May
The second stage of the 2019 Inter-club Teams, the Davidson Shield took place at the Manjimup Range on 26th May. Shooters were confronted with 4C temperatures, but luckily, an early morning fire managed to thaw the fingers and warm the spirits.
The sun eventually shone through, and the day was mild but comfortable, with variable rear winds, shifting over the left then right shoulder for most of the day.
Manjimup's new Silver Mountain Etargets were used for the first time in SWDRA teams, and met all expectations.
In keeping with the SWDRA's decision, this was the second team event of the year that combined TR and F Class shooters, with the use of the MSCI to equate all scores.
There were two stand-out scores on the day: Manjimup's Mark Milentis who went through clear in TR, scoring 105.12 and Busselton's Graham Oates, shooting F Std who only dropped one point on the day. Milentis took out Off Rifle honours while Oates won the Handicap score.
Other Off Rifle notable scores were: Mick Forsberg; Ken Sue; Ian Reynolds and Kevin Joyce.
Manjimup Red was dominant on their home range, and won the Off Rifle score comfortably, with 975.635, ten points in front of second-place Darkan Gold on 967.643.
Tables were reversed for the Handicap Davidson Shield, which resulted in Darkan Gold winning with a score of 986.893 from Manjimup Red, scoring 985.636. third was Busselton Green with 976.146 and Bunbury Blue fourth on 954.821.
