Davidson Shield
Manjimup Range - 27th June
Darkan and Busselton-Bunbury Rifle Clubs travelled to Manjimup to compete for the Davidson Shield on 27th June under the threat of severe and disruptive weather. As a result, host Club Manjimup altered the shooting program by scrapping the shorter range, and shooting two (2) 500 yd matches, followed by the third match at 700 yds.
In order to beat the weather, teams shot straight through for the 500 yds matches, then moved back to the 700 yd mound prior to lunch in an attempt to finish the shoot and stay dry. It worked! Apart from a slight drizzle at the 700yd match, all shooters were able to get their applications away without being drenched.
As per the decision at the first teams match for 2021, because the teams shooting were a mixture of TR, F Standard and F/TR, the Handicap Scored Davidson Shield was decided on the points dropped by all team members over the course of fire, and then the total points dropped by the team had the handicap subtracted.
Manjimup won all three ranges on this system, and also the Davidson Shield, with a dropped point total of 14 points. Second was Busselton-Bunbury with a dropped point score of - 28 with Darkan third with a dropped point total of -30.
