COOLILUP RANGE 15th July
Bunbury Rifle Club played host to the SWDRA's third inter-club team shoot for the 2018 season.
Held at the Coolilup Rifle Range, and shot over 500, 600 and 700m under cloudy skies, with the occasional light shower, accompanied with moderate and variable right to left winds, the results were always going to come down to the most steady hand and the most astute coaching.
As has been the pattern recently, the strong Manjimup team put in a strong bid early, winning the 500m match with a score of 173.19 by 6 points from second placed Busselton on 167.13. Six possibles were scored on this range, with the highest being a 35.5 from Busselton's Ken Sue.
The second stage, fired over 600m again saw Manjimup on 171.10 show a clean pair of heels from Busselton on 167.13. On this occasion, 4 possibles were scored with Busselton's Ken Sue's 35.4 taking the honours.
The 700m stage was won clearly by Manjimup with a score of 172.15, which included possibles from Milentis and D Robinson. The only other possible achieved at this range was scored by the in-form Sue, top-scoring with a 35.4.
The final results were:
Scott Shield: This match is determined by the team's total handicap score. This turned out to be a tight finish, with both Manjimup and Busselton teams finishing on the maximum handicap points of 525. In such a situation, 2/3rd of each teams aggregated handicap is calculated and added to the final scores. In this case, Busselton were declared the winner of the 2018 Scott Shield, with Manjimup second. Bunbury were third with Darkan fourth.
The Off rifle team honours were convincingly taken off by Manjimup, with an off rifle aggregate of 516.44, 15 points ahead of second-placed Busselton.
Top off-rifle scores were: K. Sue 105.13; M Milentis 105.9; A Trease 104.8; M Forsberg 103.12; S Wdowinski 103.10; G Wittorff 103.6; R Davis 103.5; D Robinson 102.6 and K Joyce 101.9.
Top Handicap Scorers were: S Wdowinski 110; R Davis 109; A Trease 107; S Sinclair 107; K Sue 107; G Wittorff 106; M Milentis 106, D Robinson 106 and D Basten 105.

F class members shot alongside the TR teams, with some outstanding results amongst them over the three range course of fire.
Foremost was Busselton's Brad Day, shooting F Open. Day hit 3 possibles for a score of 180.23.
In all, 9 shooters took part in the F Class competition. Apart from Day's triple possible, G Oates scored one possible in F Standard and S Stoffels achieved likewise in F/TR. B Wood scored a double possible and visitor M Austen scored one possible in the Varmit Tactical class.
