Spencer Shield & Zone Cup 2018
The first of the SWDRA's Interclub Team shoots was held at the Darkan Range on Sunday 18th March. Teams from Manjimup, Busselton, Bunbury and Darkan competed for the Spencer Shield, which is a Handicap event as well as the Zone Cup, an off-rifle annual competition.
Darkan turned on a beautiful mild sunny day which made for comfortable conditions for the shooters on the mound, coupled with clear sighting. A frontal and fishtailing wind and mirage proved to be challenging for the wind coaches, evidenced by the fact that only one possible of 105 was achieved across the range.
Manjimup took the early lead at the 300yd, scoring 170.10, six clear points ahead of second placed Busselton Red. It was a similar story at the 500yds and again at the 600yds.
The Off-Rifle honours went to Manjimup with a total score of 510.34, followed by Busselton Red on 492.33, then Bunbury Blue and Darkan.
When handicaps were adjusted the Spencer Shield was awarded to Busselton, and the Shield was eagerly received by Busselton's Captain, Daryl Johnson.

Busselton also won the Zone Cup, with a score of 568.34 from Darkan on 529.26.

Top individual Off Rifle on the Day was Manjimup's Mark Milentis, who was the only shooter to score a perfect 105 with 10 Centre Bulls. Best individual Handicap score was a three way tie between Darkan's Jim Wisniewski and Busselton's Wayne Oldfield and Daryl Johnson, all breaking their handicap by 2.
