South West Shooters Shine at Albany 2023 Prize Meeting
Ninety shooters entered in the 2023 Great Southern Prize Meeting. Of those 10 South West DRA members competed over the 3 day competition, with great success. Five members of the Busselton Bunbury Club attended with another four from the Manjimup club and one from Darkan.
Rod Davis of the Busselton Bunbury club won the Friday's Albany PM in the Sporter/Hunter Class with a solid performance to master the tricky conditions.
Badge winners in the two day Great Southern DRA Championship were:
Target Rifle:
Mark Milentis (Manjimup) Third Badge with an aggregate opt 441.47
It is newsworthy to report that Division 2 shooter, 17 year Old Jason Sakich of the Mundaring RC was the overall TR Champion.
F Standard:
The overall winner was Cathy Keogh from the Beverley Club. Her aggregate was 522.35
SWDRA place getters were:
Division 1: Graham Oates (Busselton Bunbury) gained second place with a score of 521.28
Division 2: Dave Robinson (Manjimup) topped Division 2 with a score of 509.24, while club mate Shaun Dost placed second with 506.20.
F Open:
Brett Morgan (Manjimup) was the sole South West shooter in this class, convincingly winning his Discipline with an aggregate of 526.47.
Sporter/Hunter:
South West DRA shooters scored a trifector in this discipline, taking out the top three positions.
Charlie Mitchell (Busselton Bunbury): 1st Place with a score of 441.41;
Robert Cuthbert (Darkan): 2nd Place with a score of 440.41, and
Rodney Davis (Busselton Bunbury): 3rd Place with a score of 440.39.
Coached Pairs:
Bsn/Bun pair, consisting of George Wittorff and Graham Oates took out the F Standard Coached Pairs competition with a combined scores of 115.7
Rod Davis and Charlie Mitchell, Bsn/Bun team mates won the Sporter/Hunter Coach Pairs results with a combined total of 99.9, and
Brett Morgan and Mark Milentis (Manjimup) also won the F Open Pairs.
