Hornibrook Shield
29th August
Coolilup Range was the host venue for the third and final inter-club team shoot of the year. Due to the threat of inclement weather, it was decided to modify the program by dropping the 600m stage and shooting a 700m and two 800m stages. This proved to be a wise decision, as shooting was concluded just on lunch time, and the weather closed in shortly after that.
Although there were only the three official club teams of 5 apiece, making up a field of 15 competitors, extra targets were put in, and a total of 32 shooters enjoyed the competition, albeit in increasingly tricky wind conditions. None the less, some excellent scores were posted by the 'non team' contingent, which included a visiting group from Yarloop club.
In the teams, Manjimup continued their dominance over the past couple of years, winning all three ranges off rifle and taking off the coveted Hornibrook Shield on Handicap points.
Busselton-Bunbury were second Off Rifle, while Darkan inched into second place in the Handicap section.
