TRIANGULAR TEAM SHOOT 2013
MURRAY SOUTH WEST METROPOLITAN
MURRAY SOUTH WEST METROPOLITAN
The annual Triangular Team Shoot was held at the Yarloop Range on 9th June. Teams from each Association attended, with the South West and Metropolitan fielding a second team to compete for the John Bradshaw Shield. In addition, F Class teams from the Metropolitan and South West DRAs took part on the day.
Initial weather indications threatened rain, with the possibility that 2012's cancellation may occur again. As it turned out, apart from a delay in starting the 300m stage, and the weather closing in during the final 800m range, the day was contested in dull conditions, with only minor wind drifts for the coaches to contend with.
Competition was close throughout the day. The South West and Murray teams were level on 487 after the first range, with the South West just ahead on centrals. Both the 600m and 800m honours went to the Metro team, especially at the final 800m, where the 10 man team dropped only 4 points to score an excellent 496.51.
The Metropolitan team shooting for the John Bradshaw Shield won by default, with a team of 10, as the South West fielded 8 shooters. Nevertheless, the Metropolitan team won with an average score of 131 to the South West's average of 129.
Competition between the Metropolitan and South West F class teams was very close, with the South West winning the day by one point. This section of the Triangular shoot is now established, and it appears time to introduce a trophy dedicated to F Class.
